Russty Hooks?

My name is Russell 'Rusty' Lowe (the Russty Hooks is making a bit more sense now eh?) But don't worry, I don't use rusty hooks anymore. Well...I haven't used them for a long time although as a boy I did catch a rather nice Brownie from a forest stream on a rusty flounder hook; but it fell off at the net. No more rusty hooks.

I have been lucky enough to spend the past twenty five summers in and around Christchurch harbour chasing the Bass, Sea Trout and Mullet from the shore or from my boat. With the experience I have gained over this time I am excited to offer guided fishing for these species both night and day. Book a day, half day, evening or perhaps chase the Bass in the afternoon then target the Sea Trout once the green has finally gone from the grass?

I am a full on fly fishing nut and spend about ninety percent of my time using this method but I  still spend time fishing lures. I am more than happy to use which ever you prefer although I do personally think the fly has the edge, especially at night...

Catching Seat Trout and Bass in the dead of night with light fly gear has got to be one of the best fishing experiences available. Warm summer nights can see the harbour alive with Sea Trout leaping clear of the water and the Bass smashing the fry on the surface, something that has to be encountered.

I have grown up fishing the streams of the New Forest and the rivers of both Hampshire and Dorset and feel very privileged to have all this on my doorstep. Christchurch Harbour has outstanding beauty as well as being steeped in history much of which being its notorious smuggling past. Please take a look at our history page to read a little more.
